New President and Board Installed

Tuesday, July 7, 2015
CVM ROTARY NEW PRESIDENT INSTALLED, PRESIDENT-ELECT AND OFFICERS NAMED

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JULY 7, 2015

LOGAN UTAH: Members of the Cache Valley Morning (CVM) Rotary Club welcomed international consultant Trace Skeen as the new president and Leavitt Group Agency of Northern Utah co-owner Mark Lund as president-elect. Skeen was installed during the club's annual board meeting, July 7, 2015. He expressed gratitude for the outstanding leadership and the multiple fundraising and community service contributions of Logan-based Lee’s Marketplace CEO Jonathan Badger during his immediate past presidency. Badger has also been a major force behind the development of the club’s youth programs which include international student exchange, youth leadership, and a youth “Interact” club at Skyview High School.

Skeen recently retired from an international career in emergency medical services development, having worked with governments primarily in 2nd and 3rd world countries such as Trinidad, India, and Turkey to help establish ambulance and paramedic operations. “There are many in Cache Valley who provide service to family, friends, and fellow church members. Rotary provides a unique additional opportunity to engage the community, and even the world, on a larger scale,” said Skeen. "There is nothing more rewarding than working side by side with other like-minded professionals who are committed to serving those in our own community as well as the worldwide community,” he added.

As past president, Badger will continue to serve on the board of directors in the development of youth programs, along with Adam Anderson and Jeff Ballard (fundraising), Gifford Baugh (speakers bureau), Dennis Briscoe (service), Mark Lund (membership), Roger Roundy (community relations), Marlene Skinner (administration), Steve Skinner (international programs), Brenda Sun (public affairs), and Lacee Wilkey (treasury).

Rotary is an international service organization of 34,282 clubs in 128 countries and over 1.2 million members who are local business, professional, and civic leaders. It is recognized as a lead organization in the eradication of polio worldwide. On the international level, CVM Rotary provides overseas exchange opportunities for Cache Valley youth, and supports the cultural arts and literacy programs of the Cambodia International Children Friend Organization, a children’s home located in Phnom Penh. The Club also has an ongoing commitment in contributing time, talent, resource, and participation to all of the following local organizations and programs: The Family Place (formerly Child & Family Support Center), Centro de la Familia, Cache Food Pantry, Cache Valley Literacy Program, and youth leadership development programs.

In addition to active participation in community projects, networking, and social events, members of CVM Rotary meet every Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM for a combination of field trips at major businesses and institutions around the valley. As a membership organization, CVM Rotary seeks out individuals with leadership capabilities and potential who are enthusiastic about providing service at both local and international levels. The collegial environment within the club allows for members to bring their career expertise to become part of the solution for improving the quality of life in Cache Valley as well as the world at large.

For more information, contact Trace Skeen at 435-938-1586 or Mark Lund at 801-209-8918.
